Coaching ignites more creative insights than any other approach

While reading one of my favorite coaching books the other day, I came across a fascinating study that offers evidence for why coaching is the best way to ignite creativity.

The researchers of this study* grouped participants into three categories:

  1. Those who worked solo
  2. Those who received direct opinions and advice from others
  3. Those who received non-directive coaching using reflections and open-ended questions (just like the kind of coaching I offer)

They noticed that the group who received non-directive coaching (group 3) showed the most brain activity in the area linked to creativity.

So, what's the takeaway? Coaching sparks your brain to come up with way more insights—or those delightful "aha moments"—compared to going it alone (trying to solve it yourself) or just following instructions (being told what to do).

Want more—and better—"aha moments," faster? Try coaching!
